Clubs across the continent are in the market for January transfer deals as they look to strengthen their squads for the second half of the 2024/25 season with titles, European football and survival all on the line.
Arsenal are rumoured to be looking for new forwards after cup defeats to Manchester United and Newcastle. Mikel Arteta’s side have been linked with a goalscorer and have reportedly turned their sights on Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic after moving on from interest in Alexander Isak. Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo was also linked after the injury to Bukayo Saka.
The window could see some big exits confirmed with Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold open to negotiate a possible free transfer to Real Madrid and Manchester United looking to sell Marcus Rashford. Kyle Walker could be on his way out of Manchester City, though, after informing Pep Guardiola of a desire to explore options away from the club and Milan and Inter are battling for the right back.
Elsewhere, Chelsea have opened talks with Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel, in a move that could see striker Christopher Nkunku head the other way and return to the Bundesliga after a difficult time at Stamford Bridge and Liverpool have ‘started talks’ with FC Nurnberg star Stefanos Tzimas.

Man City in talks to sign 20-year-old Uzbekistan international defender
Manchester City are in talks with Lens about a deal for the Uzbekistan centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov.
The French club’s manager, Will Still, confirmedKhusanov could leave this month as City look to make him their first January signing. He left Lens’ training ground due to illness and the 20-year-old, who joined Lens in 2023, may have played his last game for the club.
Still said: “We’re not going to lie to each other. We know that there are negotiations in progress, things are moving. We’re not fooled. For the moment, he’s still here and if things were to move, you’ll probably know before me. He went home because he’s really sick. If he’s still available, he’ll be in the squad.

Man Utd eye Dorgeles
Manchester United have added Nene Dorgeles to their list of options for the January transfer window says Fabrizio Romano. The transfer expert wrote on Twitter/X:
“Manchester United add Nene Dorgeles from RB Salzburg to their list of options for January/summer.
“Malian winger being monitored by the club and initial talks to be informed on the price/package took place. Man United keep working on that before making decision.”
At this stage, United’s interest seems to be passing/monitoring so expect movement closer to the end of the window if the Red Devils want to progress further than scouting the 22-year-old.

Spurs still in for Kolo Muani
Tottenham still have their sights set on signing Randal Kolo Muani.
The PSG forward had seemed likely to join Juventus, but L’Equipe say that the Italian club are unable to cover his salary in full and a loan with an obligation to buy has been ruled out.
If Tottenham can secure his services then it could reignite the back half of their season under Ange Postecoglou.

Multiple clubs interested in Endo
Fulham are considering a move for Liverpool’s Wataru Endo this month according to Caught Offside.
Endo is firmly part of the Liverpool squad but his game time is on a rotational basis and, though he has played a role in the cup campaigns, his Premier League outings tend to be filling in at centre-back instead of his usual midfield role.
Fulham feel as though they can get their man towards the end of the January transfer window with Wolves, Ipswich, AC Milan and Celtic also being linked for the Japan international.

Graham Potter on Evan Ferguson links
West Ham have been linked with signing Brigton’s Evan Ferguson during this window but new manager Graham Potter refused to be drawn into a conversation about that when chatting to the media.
He said: “He’s a player that is not a West Ham player, and until he’s a West Ham player I won’t speak about anybody we’ve got enough good players here and that’s my focus at the moment. Does that apply to Dewsbury-Hall as well? It does.”

Jesus has suspected ACL injury
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is thought to have suffered an injury to his ACL.
The 27-year-old picked up the injury in Sunday’s FA Cup third round defeat to Manchester United and it seems doubtful that the 27-year-old will play again this season should the injury be as serious as believed.
If Jesus is on the sidelines for the rest of the season then Mikel Arteta’s hand might be forced to go into the transfer market and bring in a striker. Bukayo Saka is another long-term absentee and Ethan Nwaneri is also injured.
Arsenal have wanted a forward for a while but were seemingly waiting for the right option in terms of price and one that suits Arteta’s style of play.
The Arsenal boss speaks at a press conference this morning and may provide more insight.

Kvaratskheila close to PSG move
Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on a ‘full verbal agreement’ with Napoli for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, says Ben Jacobs.
The French side have agreed personal terms with the striker who will sign a deal until 2029 and possible increase his salary by three or four times his current wages if other rumours are to be true.
PSG previously claimed that they were confident of signing the Georgia international for less than Napoli’s original €80m asking price and they may have pulled that off.
Kvaratskheila also had interest from clubs in the Premier League with Liverpool previously monitoring his situation. Should the forward move to France it increases the likelihood that the Reds keep hold of Darwin Nunez as no replacement would be coming in.

Liverpool reject offer for Darwin Nunez
Liverpool have reportedly turned down an offer for Darwin Nunez, according to Anfield Watch.
Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal apparently sent in a verbal offer in the region of £70m which was turned down as the Reds want a higher price for their forward.
That price is thought to be closer to the £85m mark but the club are said to be open to compromise and may settle for a bid closer to £75m.
Chief executive, Michael Edwards, is also said to be handling negotiations for here on in.
This update is firmly in the rumour category as it feels unlikely that Liverpool let any of their players go in this window when the opportunity for a quadruple is still open.
