Liverpool’s scouting department is hot on the trail of Greek sensation Stefanos Tzimas.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed the Merseyside giants made a call to FC Nurnberg just a few days ago, expressing their desire to snatch up the young international in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 19 year old winger, who is impressing on loan at Nurnberg from PAOK, can be bought by the Germans for a cool £15m (€18m) due to a pre-existing agreement, before likely being flipped for profit during the summer market.
Tzimas has also attracted attention from Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion, as well as Chelsea and several Bundesliga outfits.
The prospect of playing in England’s top division has long been a dream for Tzimas, and only two months prior, speaking with BILD, he disclosed his ambitions: “I try to do my best every day and do my part to ensure a successful season. We’ll see what happens in the summer.”
He went on to reveal, “I want to play in the Premier League at some point. But there is still a lot to do until then, and at the moment I am in the right place at the club for my personal development.”
Already this term, the youngster has bagged eight goals from 14 league contests. Before his impressive loan spell, Tzimas made history at his first club, PAOK, becoming their youngest scorer ever at the tender age of 17 years and one month.
Any potential deal could well hinge on whether Darwin Nunez makes for the exit after a largely disappointing spell in England since arriving from Benfica in the summer of 2022.
Nunez has scored 37 goals in 122 appearances for the Reds and has found the net only four times in 26 outings this term.
The 25-year-old has attracted interest from AC Milan in recent weeks and the Uruguayan, occupying the bench more often than not under Arne Slot, may opt for a fresh start elsewhere if a concrete bid arrives.
