A berth in the Big Ten title game, opposite the Oregon Ducks, and a higher seed in the College Football Playoff are on the line in Columbus, Ohio, but it’s not the traditional late-season rivals the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes have to worry about. It’s the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers, ranked No. 5 in Tuesday’s CFP rankings.
The Hoosiers have been the season’s biggest surprise team and are 10-0 for the first time in school history. However, IU has not played a ranked team. The Hoosiers are playing in just their second-ever AP top-5 matchup. Ohio State has played in 46.
The Buckeyes would clinch a spot in the Big Ten title game with a win and set up a rematch with No. 1 Oregon, which gave Ohio State its lone loss. The winner of the rematch could be in line for the No. 1 overall seed in the 12-team playoff. First, however, it must get by Indiana which is second in the country in points per game and has won each game, except a 20-15 win over Michigan, by 14 or more points.
