And just like that, Season 4 of “Hacks” is already here.
After the third season of the hit Max Original comedy series debuted as a top Emmy contender for this year’s ceremony, the fourth installment is underway — and this time, Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) is determined to make it big again on late night TV. Years after Deborah’s short-lived late night talk show made history, she is willing to risk it all to return to the small screen in a coveted time slot.
The official logline reads: “Tensions rise as Deborah and Ava (Hannah Einbinder) endeavor to get their late night show off the ground and make history doing it.”
The Emmy, Golden Globe, and Critics Choice Award-winning show also stars three-time Emmy winner Paul W. Downs, SAG Award nominee Megan Stalter, Emmy nominee Carl Clemons-Hopkins, SAG Award nominee Mark Indelicato, and SAG Award nominee Rose Abdoo. The cast includes Dan Bucatinsky, Helen Hunt, Tony Goldwyn, Kaitlin Olson, Jane Adams, Lauren Weedman, Christopher McDonald, Poppy Liu, Lorenza Izzo, Johnny Sibilly, Paul Felder, Polly Draper, Luenell, and Aristotle Athari.
Previously announced new cast members are Julianne Nicholson, Michaela Watkins, Bresha Webb, Robby Hoffman, Eric Balfour, Danny Jolles, Gavin Matts, Grover Whitmore III, Holmes, Jasmine Ashanti, Katy Sullivan, Matt Oberg, and Sandy Honig.
Lead stars Smart and Einbinder have also accumulated accolades for the series: Smart is a six-time Emmy winner and Tony Award nominee, with Einbinder as a three-time Emmy nominee and Critics Choice Award winner.
“Hacks” is created and showrun by Emmy winners Paul W. Downs (who additionally stars), Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky. The series is executive produced by Downs and Aniello via their Paulilu banner, Statsky via First Thought Productions, as well as Emmy winners Michael Schur via Fremulon, David Miner for 3 Arts Entertainment, and Morgan Sackett. The studio is Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
“Hacks” Season 4 premieres April 10 at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET. The ten-episode season debuts with two episodes, then one episode a week for four weeks. Episodes 7 and 8 debut together on May 15, followed by Episode 9 on May 22. The season finale debuts on May 29. Check out the trailer below.
