Tuesdays are not generally known for being packed with sporting action, and yet here we are – four Premier League matches, three FA Cup matches, an Australian Open and I’m sure there’s been some skiing somewhere too.

On the other side of the world, Liverpool took a big step towards the title, while Manchester City and Chelsea did the opposite. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, needs to find his side another saviour after Jesus was ruled out for the season. It’s been a big night in England, so let’s start there.

Jota to the rescue

A point earned, or two points dropped. Sometimes it depends on which team you support, but Tuesday night’s barn burner in Nottingham was evidence, if any where needed, that a draw is a more than acceptable outcome in a sporting contest. Americans take note.

Forest took a deserved lead through Chris Wood after eight minutes, Diogo Jota grabbed an equaliser in the 66th minute, just 22 seconds after coming on, and home goalkeeper Matz Sels then made a series of incredible saves to leave the two sides exactly where they had been at the start of the evening.

Arne Slot’s side maintain their six-point lead at the top of the table, Forest are second, and can genuinely be considered title contenders.

“One point is a good result in the end for us,” Sels said. “Of course, we wanted to win, but I think a point is a good result against them.”

City blow it, again
