Everton have signed Barcelona defender Martina Fernandez on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old becomes the club’s second signing of the January transfer window after the arrival of France striker Kelly Gago.

The Spain Under-23s international was part of the Barcelona squad that won last season’s Women’s Champions League.

“I am so excited to be here and I cannot wait to play,” Fernandez told Everton’s official club channel.

“I know Everton is a historic club and that the fans are very supportive so I cannot wait to meet them.

“They can expect hard work from me. I will give my everything on the pitch.”
