Katowice Airport reported its best November ever, handling 351,373 passengers in 2024, marking a 12.4% increase from 2023.

The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL SA) – the company managing Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport in Pyrzowice, Poland – has summarised passenger traffic for the eleventh month of 2024.

In the penultimate month of 2024, the Airport handled a total of 351 373 passengers, i.e. 38 856 more (+12.4%) than in 2023. It was the best November in the airport’s history; the record-breaking result from 2023, when 312 517 passengers were noted, was surpassed.

During thirty days of November 2024, Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines and Air Dolomiti (the airline handles flights for Lufthansa) handled 221 506 passengers on regular flights, i.e. 4 682 more (+2.2%) than last year. 117 943 travellers were handled on charter flights, which are operated for travel agencies; that’s 22 627 passengers more (+23.7%) than in November 2023.

In the eleventh month of 2024, the Airport saw 2 859 aircraft takeoffs and landings, i.e. 153 more (+5.6%) than last year.

In the first eleven months of 2024, airlines handled 6 023 541 passengers on flights to/from Katowice Airport, i.e. 726 254 more (+13.7%) than in the same time in 2023. From January to the end of November 2024, 2 889 788 passengers were served on regular flights, i.e. 153 779 more (+5.6%) than last year. 3 100 388 travellers flew on charter flights; that’s 556 605 passengers more (+21.9%) than in 2023. During eleven full months of 2024, Katowice Airport noted a total of 45 550 takeoffs and landings, i.e.  3 075 more (+7.2%) than last year.

“On 28 November, Katowice Airport handled – for the first time ever – six million passengers in a single calendar year. Next year, we expect further growth of traffic; we should reach seven million served passengers,” said Artur Tomasik, President of the Board of GTL SA.

Katowice Airport is one of the biggest regional airports in Poland. In 2023, record-breaking 5.6M passengers travelled via its network of flights. The forecast for 2024 estimates that over 6.2M passengers will be handled, most in the history of Katowice Airport. Katowice Wojciech Korfanty Airport is the country leader in the area of charter traffic, and one of the biggest cargo airports in Poland.
