Brendan Gillis, AHA’s director of teaching and learning, and I will be attending the annual meeting of the National Council for the Social Studies in Boston from November 20–23. Brendan is co-leading a clinic focused on building public support for the social studies curriculum at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and will participate on a panel focused on teaching revolutionary history on the eve of the 250th anniversary of US independence at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. I will join David Blight, Jennifer Morgan, and Brendan on Saturday at 10:20 a.m. for a panel on the AHA’s recently released report, American Lesson Plan: Teaching US History in Secondary Schools.
