- Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group plans to modernize its two foundational properties in Hong Kong and Bangkok, focusing on improved guest accommodations, dining, and wellness experiences.
- Renovations will take place in phases, with completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2026 for the Hong Kong location and towards the end of 2025 for the Bangkok location.
The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is set to invest significantly in its two original flagship hotels in Hong Kong and Bangkok.
The two properties, which have been instrumental in establishing the Mandarin Oriental brand, will see substantial improvements. These will include new guest accommodation designs and various dining and wellness experiences.
The Hong Kong property, a city landmark since 1963, will undergo a transformative renovation. Over US$100 million has been invested in preserving the hotel’s cultural heritage and timeless elegance. The renovation will encompass public spaces, guest rooms, and suites and introduce new dining experiences and wellness concepts.
The Bangkok property, known as the Grande Dame of Thai hospitality, will also receive significant enhancements, particularly in the hotel’s Author’s and Garden wings. The renovations will draw inspiration from the exotic gardens surrounding these wings. The hotel’s award-winning French restaurant, Le Normandie, will undergo a significant transformation, with renowned Chef Anne-Sophie Pic set to introduce her Michelin-starred culinary approach to Thailand.
Both renovation programmes will be executed over distinct phases. The Hong Kong property renovations are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2025 and are anticipated to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026. The Bangkok property’s renovations are already underway and are expected to be completed towards the end of 2025.
