Hilton has announced plans for a new Canopy by Hilton hotel at Deer Valley East Village. The property, set to open in the summer of 2026, is part of a larger expansion plan for Deer Valley Resort. It will mark the brand’s first entry into the Utah market and the company’s first ski destination hotel.

Hilton has revealed plans to establish its first ski destination hotel in North America at Deer Valley East Village, Utah. This project, to be executed under the Canopy by Hilton brand, is part of a major expansion strategy for the Deer Valley Resort. The 180-room hotel is expected to open in the summer of 2026.

The hotel project is an agreement between Hilton and the New York-based Extell Development Company, a real estate developer specializing in residential, commercial, and hospitality properties. Overlooking the Jordanelle Reservoir and Deer Valley Resort, the Canopy by Hilton Hotel will offer guests ski access during the season and a host of dining options.

Gary Barnett, founder and chairman of Extell Development Company, expressed optimism about the project, noting that the addition of Canopy to the Village aligns with their vision of attracting world-renowned brands and experiences to the resort. The hotel’s design, a collaboration between The Richardson Design Partnership and DLR/Brayton Hughes, will reflect Park City’s rich history as a mining town and its evolution into a premier ski destination.

Matt Wehling, senior vice president of development at Hilton, highlighted the growth of the Canopy brand, noting that the new project at Deer Valley contributes to the brand’s momentum. The hotel will offer a variety of amenities, including a pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna, fitness center, golf simulator, and a dedicated ski reception lobby. Underground parking accommodating 176 stalls will also be provided.

The food and beverage selection at Canopy at Deer Valley is expected to span over 9,600 square feet, featuring a signature restaurant, an apres-ski lounge, a coffee shop, and a rooftop lounge with panoramic mountain views. The hotel will serve as the surrounding neighborhood’s centerpiece, including Extell’s recently completed 402-unit Pioche Village Condominiums.

Deer Valley East Village, located just 40 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport, is set to introduce a new access point to Deer Valley. This includes hotels, private residences, retail and commercial spaces, a world-class recreation complex, a ski beach, and various winter and summer amenities. Upon completion of the expansion, Deer Valley will double its current skiable terrain, adding 10 new chairlifts and 100 new ski runs. This will increase its total skiable terrain to over 5,726 acres, served by 37 chairlifts across 238 runs, solidifying its position as one of the largest ski resorts in North America.
