Julian Whiston has recently been appointed as the Head of Hotels and Hospitality—value and Risk Advisory for real estate services company JLL in Australia and New Zealand. 

Whiston boasts over 30 years of experience specializing in hotel and resort property valuations, transactional support, and investment consultancy services. His professional journey spans assignments throughout Australia, the South Pacific, Asia and Europe.

Dale Winfield, JLL’s Head of Value and Risk Advisory for Australia and New Zealand, expressed his enthusiasm for Whiston’s return. He highlighted Whiston’s extensive industry experience as an asset that would bolster JLL’s position in the hotels and hospitality sector across the two countries.

Before rejoining JLL, Whiston was Partner and Joint Head of National Hotels and Hospitality, Valuations and Advisory at Knight Frank Australia. He also previously served as Managing Director at JLL Hotels and Hospitality, a role he held for over 15 years.

Whiston expressed his excitement about leading the Hotels and Hospitality Value and Risk Advisory team for Australia and New Zealand. He emphasized the rapidly evolving nature of the hospitality sector and his eagerness to utilize JLL’s global network and resources to provide innovative solutions for clients.

Throughout his career, Whiston has advised on various hospitality assets, including city center hotels, resort destinations, stadiums, music venues, major entertainment venues, theme parks, and licensed premises.

Whiston is recognized as a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute (FAPI), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS), and HOSPA (Hospitality Finance, Revenue and IT Professionals).

Whiston praised JLL’s commitment to enhancing its valuation systems and infrastructure to meet changing market circumstances and technological advancements. He particularly commended their efforts in developing technology for hotel appraisals that align with JLL’s global standard.
