Daredevil: Born Again Episode 3, titled “The Hollow of His Hand,” premiered on Disney+ on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, and it features an easter egg that might be a reference to Miles Morales’ Spider-Man and the world around him. The popular character is unlikely to appear in the show, but the easter egg teases his existence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Daredevil: Born Again possibly teases Miles Morales entry in MCU

Episode 3 of Daredevil: Born Again features a scene in which Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, serving as the defense counsel for Kamar de los Reyes’ Hector Ayala / White Tiger, lists “Officer Morales” as one of the several law enforcement personnel that Hector Ayala has saved. This is potentially a reference to Jefferson Morales, Miles’ father. Although Jefferson has been traditionally a SHIELD agent in Marvel Comics, he has been depicted as a police officer in the Spider-Verse movies and the Insomniac video games.

While this may be a coincidence, it’s unlikely considering easter eggs and references are an important and often inevitable part of franchise projects. Further, the character’s initial surname was Davis in the comics at one point, but Jefferson decided to just use his wife’s surname in canon in the #22 issue of Miles Morales: Spider-Man, published in 2021.

Jefferson’s full name is never mentioned in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. However, Miles addresses him as “Officer Morales” in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, reaffirming Morales as his surname.

As Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s Studios’ head of TV, streaming, and animation, confirmed last month, Sony still holds the long-term TV rights for Spider-Man. Accordingly, the superhero and associated characters will probably not appear in Daredevil: Born Again without Sony’s permission. However, the easter egg does effectively set up somewhat of a foundation for Miles Morales to potentially appear in the MCU in the future.
