Arsenal vs Tottenham, Everton vs Aston Villa, Newcastle vs Wolves and Leicester City vs Crystal Palace took centre stage in the Premier League on Wednesday.

The Magpies started the evening in fifth and were aiming to extend their winning run to nine matches in all competitions against opponents who had moved out of the relegation zone under new manager Vitor Pereira.

Second-bottom Leicester had lost their previous five league matches but thrashed second-tier QPR 6-2 at home in the FA Cup third round on Saturday, while 15th-placed Palace started seven points above The Foxes.

You can check out our reports from Goodison Park and the north London derby, or read on as 101GreatGoals.com covers the results, goals and highlights from Newcastle vs Wolves and Leicester vs Palace.

Newcastle vs Wolves: Isak scores again

Alexander Isak ensured he has scored in eight successive Premier League games with a deflected 34th-minute strike from the edge of the box, putting Newcastle on course to rise to fourth with a 3-0 win that was their ninth consecutive victory in all competitions.

Wolves, who fell below fourth-bottom Ipswich Town on goal difference with a game less to play, went closest when Jorgen Strand Larsen’s first-time shot hit a post shortly after Isak’s first, but the Sweden striker added his second from Bruno Guimaraes’ pass after 57 minutes.

Isak then turned provider, setting up Anthony Gordon to put the contest all-but beyond doubt with a third for the hosts 16 minutes from time, although Wolves then had a goal ruled out for handball after Santiago Bueno struck from close range from a corner.

Leicester vs Palace: Eagles ease to victory

Leicester have lost six successive league games and are two points from safety after this 2-0 home defeat, although they might have gone ahead but for an uncharacteristic lack of ruthlessness from Jamie Vardy during the first half.

Jean-Philippe Mateta provided his latest composed finish to score with Palace’s first attempt on target in the 52nd minute courtesy of a Jakub Stolarczyk pass.

Defender Marc Guehi volleyed in to double the Eagles’ advantage after 78 minutes and continue their fine run of form since a shaky start to the campaign.

Palace rose above Manchester United to 14th and are five matches unbeaten in all competitions, with their only defeat in their last 10 league games coming against Arsenal.
