The other chapters that also appear in the top five are Stranger Things Season 4 (140.7 million) and DAHMER: Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (115.6 million).

The astonishing viewership numbers for both seasons underscore how popular the show is among the Netflix audience. Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk spent over a decade trying to get Squid Game made before Netflix came on board. The series premiered on September 17, 2021, and soon became the cultural phenomenon it is now.

Squid Game predominantly revolves around Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), a singer father dealing with a gambling addiction in Season 1. Desperate for money, he agrees to participate in a mysterious game and quickly discovers how violent and brutal it can be.
