The sexual assault allegations against English author Neil Gaiman seem to be piling up, with more victims coming forward to share their stories in recent times. The issue first came into the limelight in July 2024 when Tortoise Media’s Master podcast controversially revealed a report highlighting accusations by a few women against the writer. However, the matter has now escalated to a wider scale, landing Gaiman in a rubble of legal troubles.

Neil Gaiman accused of new sexual assault allegations

In an extensive report titled “There Is No Safe Word,” published by New York Magazine, features writer Lila Shapiro shared a detailed account of the allegations posed against Neil Gaiman alongside interviews with eight of the concerned women. Notably, four of the accusers had already raised their voices against The Sandman author’s alleged illicit activities in the Master podcast.

Scarlett Pavlovich, who used to serve as the babysitter for Gaiman and his ex-wife Amanda Palmer, is one of the eight women who have shared their alleged horrid experiences with the author. Pavlovich provided two allegations against Neil Gaiman, with one incident involving the writer supposedly assaulting her in February 2022 in a backyard bathtub in New Zealand. Another event shared by the ex-babysitter involved Gaiman assaulting her in a hotel room in the presence of his son.

An unidentified victim, who has chosen to go by the pseudonym of Brenda, also conveyed an allegation against Neil Gaiman that took place at a horror convention. She had met the 64-year-old writer in the 1990s at a book signing earlier. Brenda stated, “He seemed to have a script. He wanted me to call him ‘master’ immediately…It was like he’d gone into this ritual that had nothing to do with me.”

The controversy has taken a huge toll on Gaiman’s career in the entertainment industry, with the award-winning author getting ousted from his role as an executive producer in Good Omens Season 3. Nevertheless, Neil Gaiman’s representatives have completely denied all the allegations listed in Shapiro’s report, labeling them “false, not to mention, deplorable.”
