HIP strengthens its presence in Greece, one of the fastest growing
tourist destinations, and now has 10 hotels (2,641 rooms) located
on the islands of Corfu, Crete, Zante, Rhodes, the Halkidiki
peninsula and Athens.

ATHENAS, BARCELONA – Hotel Investment Partners (HIP), one of the leading owners of resort hotels in Southern Europe owned by funds managed by Blackstone and GIC, announced the addition of the Grand Hyatt Athens, an iconic five-star hotel located in the centre of the Greek capital, to its portfolio. Funds managed by Blackstone have acquired the hotel from Henderson Park and Hines.

The Grand Hyatt Athens, which was completely renovated in 2023, has 548 rooms and 56 suites and is one of the largest hotels in the city. It offers a spa and fitness centre, four swimming pools, two of which are located on the terrace with stunning views of the Acropolis, as well as an extensive culinary offer with two restaurants and two bars, two of which are also located on the terrace.

The hotel features the most extensive and modern MICE facilities in Athens. This includes 4,435 sqm with 30 meeting rooms and a ballroom with a capacity for 2,550 people making this iconic hotel one of the largest in Europe for congress tourism.

All this makes it a unique hotel, combining leisure and MICE facilities and services with the outstanding attributes of the Grand Hyatt brand. Hyatt is one of the leading operators for HIP, offering high quality standards across its Inclusive Collection brands Dreams, Secrets, Zoetry and AluaSoul Hotels & Resorts.

Following last year’s renovation and extension, the Grand Hyatt Athens is the only hotel in the Greek capital that has been awarded the BREEAM “Very Good” sustainability certification, the international certification which measures the sustainability performance of individual buildings. Greece is one of the priority growth markets for HIP, which, with this acquisition, now has 10 hotels in Greece following the recent acquisitions of Alexander the Great, Halkidiki and Miramare Rhodes, as well as hotels located on the Halkidiki peninsula, two on the island of Corfu, two in Crete and another two in Zante, for a total of 2,641 rooms (including the Grand Hyatt Athens).
