Four Seasons Yachts has appointed industry pioneer Kate McCue as the inaugural captain of its first ultra-luxury vessel, Four Seasons I. This marks a milestone as the brand prepares to welcome guests aboard in January 2026.

Four Seasons Yachts recently announced that Kate McCue will be the inaugural captain of Four Seasons I, the first in their anticipated fleet of ultra-luxury yachts. With nearly three decades of maritime experience, McCue is a seasoned leader, making history in 2015 when she became the first American woman to captain a mega-ton cruise ship.

As captain, McCue will be responsible for the safe navigation of the yacht and overseeing the onboard experience for all guests and crew members. She will work to establish an onboard service culture that offers a truly personalized journey for guests, with a staff-to-guest ratio of 1:1.

McCue’s role will also involve charting journeys throughout the Caribbean and Mediterranean. She expressed her excitement about this opportunity, stating that she looks forward to connecting with guests, leading an exceptional crew, and engaging with local communities to create unforgettable journeys and set new standards in luxury yachting.

Before joining Four Seasons, McCue spent roughly a decade with Celebrity Cruises, where she served as Captain of the Celebrity Beyond and played a significant role in increasing female representation on ship bridges to over 30% across the fleet. Her extensive maritime career includes positions with Royal Caribbean International and Disney Cruise Line.
