The first teaser trailer for Warner Bros. Japan’s Edge of Tomorrow anime movie has been released.

Warner Bros. Japan is making an animated movie titled All You Need Is Kill. All You Need is Kill is a Japanese science fiction light novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, with illustrations by Yoshitoshi Abe, that was published in 2004.

The novel, which later received manga and graphic novel adaptations, was turned into a 2014 live-action film, Edge of Tomorrow, that was directed by Doug Liman and stars Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.

What else do we know about the Edge of Tomorrow anime movie All You Need Is Kill?

“After an unidentified plant from outer space invasion, Rita finds herself trapped in a time loop, forced to relive the same day over and over again,” the synopsis reads. “With each loop, she learns. She fights. Her memories and experiences sharpen her skills, turning her into a formidable warrior. Yet, the endless cycle of death and solitude begins to wear her down. Then, she meets Keiji. “I’ve been repeating this day too,” he says. Two lost souls, trapped in an endless war. Could their meeting change fate?”

The film is directed by Kenichiro Akimoto, who previously worked in the visual effects department for 2010’s Halo Legends, 2011’s Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, 2013’s Berserk: The Godlen Age Arc III – The Advent, 2015’s Harmony, 2015’s Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, and 2019’s Children of the Sea. Akimoto also directed a 2021 movie titled Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko.

Studio 4°C produces the movie alongside Warner Bros. Japan. A release date for All You Need Is Kill has not yet been announced.
