We’ve seen legendary golfer Tiger Woods in documentaries like HBO Max’s Tiger and specials by the Golf Channel and ESPN. However, in almost 30 years of Woods’ professional golfing career, there still hasn’t been a single biopic about him. Fortunately, Barack and Michelle Obama took it upon themselves to produce a biopic about the PGA Tour winner.

People consider Tiger Woods one of the greatest golfers and athletes of all time. Known for his impressive golf skills, Woods also received recognition for the “Tiger Slam.” This refers to his winning four major consecutive professional golf titles. Woods is also notable for ranking as the number one golfer for 264 straight weeks. Many fans admire the World Golf Hall of Fame inductee for his numerous accomplishments. With Wood’s life worthy of a biopic, golf fans will soon get their wish. THR reports that Barack and Michelle Obama’s company, Higher Ground Productions, is in talks to produce the upcoming biopic.

The golf champion already has a deep history with the Obamas. In 2009, Tiger Woods gave a speech honoring the military at the We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial. That year, the Obamas also offered him a special tour of the White House. Higher Ground Productions is known for producing movies with strong messages, like Rustin and Leave the World Behind. So I’m sure the Tiger Woods biopic will be just as inspirational.

What we know so far about the Tiger Woods biopic is that King Richard‘s Reinaldo Marcus Green is expected to direct. Amazon MGM Studios also plans to help develop the new project, as well as Winkler Films.

What will the Tiger Woods biopic from Barack & Michelle Obama cover?

Based on Kevin Cook’s book The Tiger Slam, the biopic of the prolific golfer will portray the early victories Tiger Woods accomplished ahead of other golf rivals. But, other than learning about the athlete’s wins, we’ll also learn about the hardships he faced. These include losing his father, sex addiction, and the physical toll of pushing himself on the golf course. Through all of the personal problems and injuries Woods faced, audiences will also witness his comeback attempts to the pro golf tour.

With the Obamas producing the long-awaited Tiger Woods biopic, we may have an emotionally moving hit on our hands.
