The first Spartacus: House of Ashur teaser trailer is here, giving us our first look at the return to the arena in Starz’s next chapter in the long-running gladiatorial drama.

What happens in the Spartacus: House of Ashur teaser trailer?

The trailer doesn’t show too much, outside of the action sequences that the series has come to be known for. It does also give us our first look at the returning Ashur, who will be played Nick Tarabay, who reprises his role for the series.

Spartacus: House of Ashur still has no official release date, although Starz did note that the premiere is set for sometime in the fall of this year.

Check out the Spartacus: House of Ashur teaser trailer below (watch other trailers and clips):

Starz describes Spartacus: House of Ashur as a “history-bending, erotic, thrilling, roller-coaster experience that builds on everything that made the original series a colossal hit. The series poses the question: what if Ashur, played by fan favorite Nick Tarabay, hadn’t died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance? And what if he had been gifted the gladiator school once owned by Batiatus in return for aiding the Romans in killing Spartacus and putting an end to the slave rebellion?”

The first season of Spartacus, titled Spartacus: Blood and Sand, premiered in January 2010. It was followed by a six-episode prequel miniseries titled Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. The second season, Spartacus: Vengeance, came in 2012 followed by the third season, Spartacus: War of the Damned, in 2013.

The series starred Andy Whitfield in the titular role, but unfortunately, Whitfield was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma following the first season and passed away in 2011. Following his death, the series did continue, with Liam McIntyre taking over for the role of Spartacus for its final two seasons, Spartacus: Vengeance and Spartacus: War of the Damned. A prequel series, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, also released in 2011, telling the story of the House of Batiatus before the arrival of Spartacus in the city of Capua.
